Welcome to Abbeyfield
(Canvey Island) Society Ltd

At Abbeyfield (Canvey Island) Society we provide comfortable and caring sheltered accommodation with assisted living for individuals over 55 years of age. Catering for those able to take care of themselves but looking for a little extra support when needed, Abbeyfield sheltered accommodation on Canvey Island provides occupants with private studio apartment homes that offer friendship and security.
Opening the doors to our first Abbeyfield House in 1959 we are now located in Long Road Canvey Island and are able to provide 11 comfortable and well-equipped rooms, complete with private bathrooms and mini kitchens to enable occupants to remain independent and retain as much privacy as desired. With a lift and stairlift to our upper floor, Abbeyfield (Canvey Island) Society sheltered accommodation is able to provide assisted living for those with manageable disabilities.
Our beautiful assisted living accommodation is managed by The Trustees of the Abbeyfield (Canvey Island) Society, including its budget, premises and staff, personally ensuring that all aspects of our assisted living meet legal requirements and the needs of our valued occupants. With the help of a small group of dedicated volunteers, we provide a range of support services that ensure the safety of our occupants while enhancing enjoyment of their time with us and encouraging each person to live their life to the fullest.

Testimonials
“Living In my own house, whenever anything went wrong I had to call someone. It really worried my children that I was all alone in a big house with no one to help me. Here, if anything goes wrong, I just have to call maintenance. If I am feeling unwell, the staff will arrange a Doctor for me. I feel safer and taken care of, and my children can relax knowing that I am in safe hands”.

“From when I first moved in all the staff and residents were so welcoming and friendly. I was rather nervous, having lived alone for a number of years, to live so close to so many people but now I really enjoy it. My neighbours are just down the hall, and I enjoy catching up with everyone in the communal areas or spending time in the garden”.
- Joe
“I was sceptical of trying assisted living in sheltered accommodation having been so used to my own home and personal space for so long, however I can honestly say that I love my new home here. I have help when I need it, I know that I am safe in an emergency, and the support enables me to continue living independently while I can. The staff are so friendly and considerate, as are the residents, and its lovely to feel like one big happy family”.
