Providing residents with exceptional shared facilities is what sets Abbeyfield (Canvey Island) Society apart from other local sheltered accommodation.
Boasting 10 private single rooms and one double, all fully equipped with ensuite bathrooms and kitchen facilities, our sheltered accommodation in Essex provides a comfortable solution for those in need of some extra support at home who do not yet require the level of care provided at a residential care home. With a lift and a stair lift, we are able to offer wheelchair access to accommodation and for those who are no longer comfortable with using stairs, enabling residents to remain with us for longer in a place they feel comfortable.
For when residents wish to socialise or get out of their room, there is a pleasant communal lounge with ample seating for residents and any visiting guests, as well as a comfortable dining room to meet, relax or play games. To pass away the warm days of summer, Abbeyfield also offers beautifully well-maintained and secluded gardens where residents with a green thumb can get their hands dirty. With a collection of lovely furniture, including a gazebo, residents can enjoy the fresh air with their friends and family all year round.
Available for all is a laundry room equipped with washing machines and tumble dryers, as well as a shared computer available in the dining room. For those with their own computers, tablets or mobiles, free WIFI is provided throughout the entire house.
With CCTV cameras covering the outside of the house, we are able to provide a high level of security. Charging points for mobility scooters are also available in the communal garage.
The house, facilities and individual rooms are maintained by the trustees of The Abbeyfield (Canvey Island) Society, who personally ensure that all facilities remain up to the high standards we have set for our assisted living accommodation and that our residents are content with our services.
As well as kitchen facilities provided in each bedroom, our assisted living accommodation also provides each resident with a cooked 2 course meal each day served at 12.30pm and a cooked tea served at 5pm, both served in the main dining room to be enjoyed with other residents.
Breakfast is prepared by residents themselves, in the comfort of their own room, for which all necessities are provided by kitchen staff.
Tea and coffee is available in the main lounge throughout the day, 7 days a week.
